NCOF is taking an exciting and novel approach to linking up the UK marine infrastructure. Our
vision is of a partnership of leading marine research scientists, developers of operational systems,
forecasters and engineers working
together in shared projects to deliver a new generation of operational ocean forecast products and services.
To consolidate the NCOF partnership a four-day Development Workshop is being held
aboard the P&O Ferries vessel Pride of Bilbao, as it sails from Portsmouth
to Bilbao and back on 12-15th June 2006.
The cost of the workshop is £190 per person. This includes full board in shared 2 berth cabins (optional single berth cabins are
available if required for a small additional cost). A promotional poster can be found here that you can use to advertise the workshop at your institution.

Workshop aims and objectives
The main aim of the workshop is to consolidate the NCOF partnership by bringing NCOF people together to develop a common identity and
explore complementary skills. The workshop will provide an opportunity for people who want to contribute to NCOF to explore where and how they
can get involved.
|
Workshop format and content
A series of structured plenary sessions will review what NCOF is about, what the main projects are, who is who and what they bring to
NCOF on behalf of each partner institution. Breakout sessions will encourage people to take ownership of NCOF. The main focus
will then be to work on the long-term NCOF strategy and both established and new projects within the partnership.
The workshop agenda will be developed in the coming months based on your feedback and ideas. If you have suggestions and ideas for
the agenda (topics, breakouts etc) please mail your suggestions to
Craig Donlon and Mike Bell
